Bittersweet
I took this at Great Sand Dunes National Park in July 2018 during a workshop with Jeff Johnson.
I call this "Bittersweet" because as beautiful as this picture appears, it's only because of what was occurring in that moment. At that moment the Spring Fire near Alamosa was raging and I was only about 5 miles (as the crow flies) from the fire when I took this shot. The wall of smoke enveloped around us to the point I could feel it in my lungs. But, oh my goodness, what it did to the light during the sunset! It was both beautiful and terrifying at the same time.
Camera: Nikon D7200
Lens: Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens
Focal Length: 18mm
F Number: f/22
Exposure time: 1/80
ISO: 640
